“Baghdad Burning” stands up!

An anonymous blog by a young woman in war-torn Iraq has been longlisted for BBC Four’s Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction.

Baghdad Burning, a first-hand account written under the pseudonym Riverbend, is one of 19 books in contention.” From the BBC..

This is such wonderful news! Baghdad Burning, the blog, was nominated for the prestigious Samuel Johnson Prize. The winners will be announced on the 14th of June. The prize is the most lucrative in Britain, topping £30,000.

“I am a woman, Iraqi, 24 years old. I have survived the war. That’s all you need to know.” Baghdad Burning.

toot rocks on Windows Live Search Beta!

Microsoft has added to Windows Live seach capabilities. Window Live Search Beta is quite cool. But the coolest thing for us at toot is that when you search for the word “toot” we appear #1 in the search results, unlike Google and Yahoo! trat ta ta! bom ba la la!

toot has its own origami too!

This week there has been lots of talk about Microsoft’s new product dubbed origami. Origami as you all know is the art of folding paper. Now toot has done its own origami exercise in an Indian restaurant run by cool Egyptians in Amman.
