Dear Tooters
What a wonderful initiative and I was happy to read the intelligent, nuanced views on this matter. Especially I like the ideas of Ahmad Humeid - they would all be great initiatives. Let me just tell you, since I am a Dane, that the views within DK on the cartoons are also diverse - especially I would like to point to the sites: http://anotherdenmark.org/
And also
http://www.forsoningnu.dk (there is a letter in English)

These represent that the cartoons do not express the sentiments or opinions of ALL Danes - believe me; a lot of Danes thought it was a stupid and unthoughtful provocation. Let us hope that extreme views on both sides do not come to dominate the debate and instead that a respectful, calm dialogue and understanding will prevail.

This is a good roundup, thanks.

I'm sure this subject will not die soon. It opened a door for discussion with the other side. I hope that we all see it as an opportunity for a healthy dialogue and build on it bridges for understanding and educating the other side.

I'm saying this after I saw the big number of comments I received on all the posts I wrote about the cartoons. For example, the following post (the oldest one) has 218 comments so far, and it is still alive:
http://sabbah.biz/mt/archives/2006/01/11/freedom-of-racism/

Other posts on the same subject:
