Well, you must admit it, you can’t possibly find a country with high pavements like the ones you see in Jordan. I honestly think they’re very ugly. It's really disastrous when you start confusing sidewalks with walls! No wonder all cars are heavily scratched by banquette marks on the sides and front.

Tell you what , there is no need for walls surrounding houses anymore, WE HAVE PAVMENTS !!! At least not for the 700 next years, when GAM starts considering a layer of asphalt to cover the mountainous paths that we’re using (i.e. AL-Madina Street). We need vehicles that can literally climb mountains.

And maybe that’s why Hummers are so common, another reason beside the overwhelming need for those owners to show off in Abdoun that they can floor the gas on full throttle to get the attention of girls ( how sad, they really got small penises). Matter of fact it gets better when they finish 20000 laps between abdoun’s circle and Starbucks (to get the feeling of Michael Schumacher), that’s when I come in and hand them their trophies. :)

The point is we need to really reconsider the idea of pavements. It’s really more elegant when you find a flat-surfaced street, with low-profile sidewalks and no taxis to destroy the rest of your day :)

Another very important advantage, due to the never ending digging and poking procedures in the streets of Amman, and the need to apply layers and layers of asphalt to cover the holes every time, most pavements tend to shrink getting shorter and shorter, a living example is the pavement in front of the building where i live, in fact our pavement is now officialy below street level, (since it's an almost 30 year old pavement)!!!

So you see such dinosaur size pavements provide the Municipality of Amman with more and more years of digging and patching!

Also, when there are imaginary beasts on the street trying to attack poor pedistrians, be sure that the sidewalk with be there in handy!

If at any given time of the day, you feel like working out, but you're too lazy to go to the gym, aha! you work start doing steps and even push ups using the tip of the sidewalk.

This way you can be sure that you will be seen (by car-drivers and people sitting on their balconies in the morning, and even you can say hi to your relatives in Karak), hey, better yet you'll get the same feeling as if you're riding a Hummer!

Network connection on your mobile is low? Just get on the sidewalk, and suddenly you can make long distance calls to Syria and Lebanon as if you're sharing their Network!

GAM was preparing contingency solutions in case of Bird Flu (yes they say it coming 700 years ago), so you'll be safe now, as chickens can't fly up to the sidewalk to take a dump over your head, and also wild birds wouldn't dare to try to waste such effort on trying to "climb up" the sidewalk.

This was a plan 600 years ago for the homeless people, to get the feeling that they live in duplexes (if they choose to sleep on the streets).

Also, to ease up the operations of GAM when they need to renew the asphalt on roads, they will not need to work on the sidewalk to make it any higher (I think this is the real reason, all jokes aside).

People, always be sure that when we invent such ugly objects on our roads, they are there for a reason...of course it's a reason that we dont know of, but it's a damn good one! Cheers!
