toot goes live… the journey begins
Happy new year to all… Happy toot year to all…
On the 1st of January, 2006, at 11:31 pm, toot went live on http://www.itoot.net. For us it was like a NASA rocket launch; high wind speeds from all directions, an endless checklist and lots of excitement and tension at the same time till the very last minutes of the deadlines. But finally, we pulled it off and toot is now officially launched and reap for human consumption!
This is only the beginning of a sweet journey to come. If toot is a train, it is already on the rails now. toot will have many stops in the Arab blogosphere; bloggers and readers from all cities and countries of the Arab World, and the people abroad. toot is for all people from all walks of life, backgrounds and colors. We at toot see the world, for now, as bloggers (writers) and readers, as talkers and listeners, as blogs and voters, bloggers’ voices and old media tunes, and as toot and conventional media.
Here everyone is invited on board, no train tickets and no train delays. toot is for everyone. If toot (berry) trees blossom once a year, we blossom everyday; that’s because the people, the bloggers and us have something to share the world with everyday, every hour and every minute.
And so we know you will visit toot everyday, thus we made toot a visually inviting and pleasant experience. We sliced it in parts that make up a whole; what’s tooting, tootreads, tootstream, tootlog, photostream and top 10 bloggers of the month! It makes it easy for us all to read toot. And yet more, toot is also a democracy for you can give your vote to the blogs and bloggers you like or even love.
At toot we value web 2.0. Maybe we agree or disagree on the concept and legitimacy of the term “web 2.0″, but the point for us to make is that we are in love with CSS, RSS, participation & recommendation, AJAX… we have yet some more work to do of course! We will also have a lot to talk about regarding blog culture, technology and visuals on tootlog.
